Never have just one resume. A resume should be edited for every job you apply for and focused around the company and job for which you are applying, with reference to items asked for in the job description. Tip Credibility: 8

For many jobs, a standard resume is no longer enough. Employers look for the creativity you bring to the role. This can be reflected by use of colour, graphics and non-standard formatting - a resume does not have to be on paper! Tip Credibility: 8

Boring is best in a resume. Ignore the advice about funky styles, fonts, etc. If an employer is serious, they will be looking for a professional CV or resume. Of course some way out resumes are successful but they are the exception. not the rule. Tip Credibility: 7

Consider your resume a sales document rather than a job application. Use active language. Catalog the benefits rather than the features you bring to the job. Consider it an ad for your services! Tip Credibility: 5

Do resumes that match the job you apply for. Dont put in too many jobs if you did a lot of casual jobs as employers will think you are not reliable if you continually move. List jobs that are relevant to skills you have and dont put in too much. Tip Credibility: 4
