Agree with Teatree: Ed Dale's 30-Day Challenge in 2009 (Videos are still on YouTube) will teach anyone *exactly* what to do to research a market and keywords, get a site, promote with external blogs and links, then monetize it. Best free A-Z for newbies!

Find a niche, market, and domain you truly are passionate about and give 110%. Pound on your site to make it better, build backlinks like crazy, establish a persona, identity and brand and consistently use that across the web. You WILL make money online.
