You can't really 'submit' a site to Ask.com - instead - make sure you have a sitemap and you can then ping it to send Ask's crawlers in your sites direction: http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A//www.YOUR-URL.com/sitemap.xml

Publish a website. That is the easy part! Then get it indexed, then really get to work trying to build up its ranking in search engines by building backlinks from credible, trusted and relevant sites; that's the harder part!

It's definitely worth the time to validate sites at Yahoo/Alexa/Bing to reduce your dependency on Google for traffic. Bing & Yahoo take 4+ weeks to assign rank to your pages and collect backlink info, so do this right away with new sites.

One great way to submit your website to search engines is to ping the article using sites like pingomatic. You can also submit your site to a do follow site which will increase the chances of getting indexed. Alternatively - use dmoz as a free directory
