Tip Sheet

Have a light dinner, like a tuna sandwich, nothing spicy, at least three hours before bed. A glass of milk and a cool shower helps too.

Get 20-30 fresh lavender flowers, put them in a paper bag, and slide them inside your pillow. Works wonders. Some people also add a few hops flowers, which work even better, but they have a stronger smell.

I found that by reading something light, meditating, or taking a hot bath can also help you get better sleep. Just don't look at that clock... that tick-tock will tick you off.

Don't drink caffiene containing beverages, particularly in the afternoon and evening. These stay in the system for a long time and can make it difficult for you to sleep.

Look for an ebook called Powerful Sleep by Kacper Potawski. It's very good and very effective, and it's all about improving the quality of sleep (so you don't need as much).

Trying to sleep on an old, worn out mattress is likely to affect how well you sleep. Is your mattress comfortable? if not get a new one that gives you good support.

Create a sleep routine. Try and go to bed and get up at the same time every night and day. Create an environment that's relaxing, earth tone paints, block out light from the street, keep out noise. A good book will also help you relax and sleep better

Try drinking a cup of warm goats milk with cinnamon and honey before you go to bed.

If you want to improve your sleep get into a regular exercise routine and try to eat a balanced diet. However, do not exercise right before you go to bed (give at least 3 hours before) because this stimulates your body causing sleeplessness.

Try to eat your main meal in the middle of the day, and a lighter smaller meal at night. This way you won't be trying to sleep with a full stomach

Get someone to check if you have cold feet (you may just think they're 'normal'). If they are cold, try wearing a light-weight pair of soft woollen sox to bed. I now sleep really well most nights.

Have more romantic evenings, where you focus on each other, not the TV or a movie. Give each other a nice massage, and make love. You'll sleep much better.

The most important thing is to have a room dedicated to sleep, with no TV or computer available. You need to get the idea set in your mind that when you get to that room you are going fall asleep. If you can't sleep you need to leave the room.

Early to bed, early to rise. Oh, and as you go through your day, give 110% to everything you do, be focused, intentional with your efforts, work hard, work steady. You will sleep better and you won't wake up with a hangover.

This may sound funny but it's true for me that drinking alcohol in excess will make you pass out. So, at the risk of having my credibility questioned I would say drink a six pack of beer of a few grey goose and crandberry, you'll sleep great if you do.
