Tip Sheet

Go ahead and buy that expensive shampoo if you feel it does a perfect job on your hair, but dilute it. Use 2/3 water and 1/3 shampoo. You can even make a weaker solution if you want. It will lather just fine and rinse out easier to save on water too.

To make your hair shiny, rinse it with one cup of water and 1/2 tablespoon of cider apple vinegar. Leave it to dry - the smell will disappear. No need to do every time, maybe once every 2-3 washes according to your hair.

Make your own shampoo by starting with a castile shampoo base which can be ordered online or found at many natural food markets. Dilute it half with water and add herbs and natural fragrances. You can find recipes for castile-based shampoos online.

Mix 4 tablespoons of flat beer in 1/2 cup of warm water. After shampooing, rub in the beer, leave a couple of minutes then rinse. It will add life and lift to flat hair.

Another method to put new life into limp or damaged hair, combine 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 3 egg whites. Rub into hair, cover with plastic wrap and leave for half an hour. Shampoo and rinse as usual.
