You can save on books if you don't mind reading books on your computer screen. There are plenty of sites with free books collections like books.google.com and www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page. Enjoy!

You can also exchange books with others at Title Tree and Book Exchange Club. Or you can use Freecycle. Hint: using these services helps you pass along books you read once but don't want to keep.

Amazon.com actually has an enormous section for free e-books there just waiting to give away http://www.squidoo.com/find_free_e-books

If you want to own a book that is a couple years old, use half.com. If you just want to read it, use the local library.
