Tip Sheet

I recently returned from Disney World and the first thing we did the night we arrived was head to a local grocery store for bottled water and snacks for the parks. We saved a lot of money that way. Resort hotels are also a good deal these days.

My family of 5 had annual passes to DW for three years when we lived 3 hours away. It wasn't uncommon for us to wake on a Saturday morning and at a drop load the kids up and go to DW. Tips: 1. Pack your food; 2. Bring drinks; 3. Buy souvenirs off site

For longer stays, consider off site lodging. While staying on property is convenient you will pay for it. Also, vacation rentals are all over Orlando. You could easily find a house with a private pool and all amenities 15 minutes away.

Food & drinks are expensive in Disney. If you want to save money, bring your own food and drinks before you enter the park. This seems to be 'silly', but you may realize that you spend quite some money for food & drinks here.

Go in groups (minimum of 20 people) then you can get group passes that are cheaper than individual pass.

Stay at Disneyland. There's a misconception that it's cheaper to stay somewhere else and visit daily but it's actually much cheaper and a lot more convenient to stay there with a package deal, and no driving.. It's magical

Visit Disneyland or Disney World during off season times when hotels will cost less and you are more likely to find great package deals. Off peak times include January until Spring Break and after Labor Day until Thanksgiving.

Here's a tip that we use and with three kids, the savings have added up. We shop for souvenirs at Disney outlets or others stores that have Disney items when they go on sale. We've bought t-shirts for $5.00 and stuffed animals for $1 this way.

For the last few years Disneyland ticket prices have gone up on the first Sunday in August. Now is the time to purchase tickets for upcoming trips!

If you fly and plan to stay on Disney property, use the free Magic Express bus service from Orlando International to your hotel room. You save the cost of a rental car or a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Disney Transportation is good.

Eat your largest meal at lunch. The prices are much better. For example, you can eat at Le Cellier at EPCOT for around $20 for lunch (1 adult). Dinner is over $35. The food at Disney is a big reason to go. Eat well, but save some money.

If you do not have a car, you can have food delivered from several local services. They charge you the price they paid from the grocery, plus 10-15% shopping fee, plus you should tip 10%. They will even use coupons. A case of water is less than $10!
