Shop around using price comparison websites for electricity providers who are cheaper than your current one. Changing provider once a year can often be profitable, as that is how long many introductory deals last.

Limit the time that children can spend playing on games consoles and watching TV. Outside that time, encourage them to take part in external activities. That will allow money to be saved from running those appliances.

Unplug all those wall warts (AC adapters) that aren't being used to charge or run laptops, cell phones, MP3 players, etc. They use electricity while plugged in even if the associated device is not attached to them. Only plug them in as needed.

Avoid the dramatic effect of halogen lights, instead use Fluorescent lamps. These lamps use 75% less energy than incandescent lamps and last longer too.
