Tip Sheet

Psychicwhois.com has always been my favorite for ease of use. It wasn't working for a while (is now again), and I found domainsbot.com while I was waiting, which is pretty decent as well.

This is a great question. Choice for a domain name depends on your objectives and goals. A domainer's objective differs from that of an affiliate marketer. Check out some helpful tips about domain name selection at KeywordAdvertiZing.com

Getting your keywords in your domain is important for good SEO. I use Market Samurai to analyize keywords for low competition and high search volume. I then look for available domains with the keywords in them.

Google popular phrases like "tips to...", "how to...", etc. and look at the search estimates given. I discovered popular search phrases and built many websites including GoGreenTips.us, HowToMakeMoneyFromHome.us and AdsenseForDummies.com

Most obvious good domains are gone, but try to combine keywords with ‘and’ like foodanddrinks.com – you keep your keywords and make them logic.

If you create a new domain for a new website and use the ‘and’ style remember to register the ‘opposite’ domain name and make a redirect from it: Like: you register foodanddrink.ccc and then also add drinkandfood.ccc

Once you have your niche, identify your keywords, write 10-15 URLs you like that are easy to remember and have your main keyword in it, go to your favorite registrar and search. You might have to do a bit of tweaking but you'll be happy with the results.

Choose the name people would use to find what you're selling/promoting. Use Google's free keyword tool to see what search terms people are using. The worst name is when it's about you and not about the customer's needs.
