Try to register com first. Use dash '-' to connect keywords for domain name. Avoid .us,.info or .co if possible. It is better to get www.keyword1-keyword2-blabla.com than www.keyword1-keyword2.us. Us will get you only on bing, but nowhere on google.

1. To create a brand, register .com, .net and .mobi 2. Try to get a keyword in your url, i.e. SanDiegoCarRepair.com 3. Choose something that is easy to remember or clever, i.e. fixmycar.com 4. Choose multiple urls and forward to your main page

true, but that way google may think you are going after that long tail keyword ... which you don't; maybe it's better to add something less associative

I tend to avoid the dashes as well in the url. Associate the domain name with the keywords you are targeting for the website by using the Google keyword tool. Target keyword monthly search volume between 2000 and 4000 for easiest results.
