| Popcorn ceiling texture has fallen out of favor, since it is prone to problems like particle sifting and collecting dirt and cobwebs. Before you remove it, get it tested. Pre-80's popcorn often contained asbestos. Tip Credibility: 49 |
| Popcorn texture is best removed using a wide knife held pretty flat. Wetting it first makes things easier. Drape your walls with plastic, and have plastic tarps on the floor. Take care not to gouge the drywall, and wash the ceiling down afterwards. Tip Credibility: 49 |
