@askformore : This is true, the cellular structure of cork is similar to a honeycomb shape, with gases trapped inside of them. This is what makes cork flooring so comfortable. This cellular structure also allows u compress cork up to 40% without damage.

Another flooring option that is "green" or enviro-friendly is Bamboo. Bamboo is a grass, not a wood, grows fast and easily replaced. Although it is softer than hardwood so it can dent. It can also be stained any color, very good alternative to hardwood.
