Try out your keywords, use them one at a time, keep track of which you use and for how long. Using website management tools you can find out how much traffic and conversion (click, sign up, or buy) rates changed.

You don't need a magic genie in a bottle or any paid programs for that matter,just the Google Wonder Wheel,Adwords Keyword Tool and some common sense will work fine for those starting out.That being said a paid tool can save you time.
