Be real. Even online people can tell if you're being fake. It doesn't matter if you're a janitor or the SEO of a major company, if you're real and you know what you're talking about, people will listen.

If you are on a niche type social media site, post revelant and crediable information pertaining to the niche. Take time to answer any replies you may get. Update your site every few days. Be friendly and polite to a fault. Never argue.

Find a way to connect with your virtual connections in person. Invite 10-15 of them to coffee or happy hour & get to know them. Offer to make introductions if they need to meet someone you know. Be of service & you'll also be known as a great connector.
