To help cure acid reflux, eat smaller meals. You stomach is about the size of your fist and meals should not exceed that size. Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day...rather than 3 big ones.

If you get reflux, eat licorice or candied ginger for relief. Eat smaller meals and don't lay down within 2 hours of eating. Drink plenty of water. A glass of water w/ 1 tsp of baking soda works as well as commercial antacid.

Be cautious about caffeinated drinks, including tea. Caffeine can lead to acid reflux. I know from experience. :(

Stay away from carbs. I was taking Alka Seltzer every night but have not had to since I went on Dr. Atkins' diet years ago.

If acid reflux hits you at night, don't eat too close to bedtime. Give your body a couple of hours to digest last meal. This may help alleviate your acid reflux and you'll avoid morning gas and stomach cramps.

Avoid milk! When acid reflux strikes most people go straight for the milk. Milk may soothe it for a moment or two but it will make the acid reflex stronger. Milk actually contains some acidity.
