| Go to a Barnes & Noble or other bookstore with a coffee store, guest readers, listening booths for CDs, etc. My kid and I can spend an hour choosing one book because of the environment Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Make a game out of chores. Helping with the groceries or washing the dog or car, or raking the leaves involves them in necessary duties in a more relaxed, enjoyable way that you can do together instead of chores that seem like a job they do alone. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Take them to a ball game. Major league, minor league, or local game. Have hotdogs and/or popcorn and enjoy a sports event that they enjoy but are not the participant of. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| We take any change we have in our pockets and car and put it in a jar along with money found in the laundry, the couches, etc. Over the year we saved almost $500 which we used towards our Christmas funds. Tip Credibility: 5 |

| Look around the house for where you can save money - i.e. coffee at home instead of Starbucks, cheaper telephone bills. Take the money you calculate you should save and apply it as an additional payment to your credit card every week. Tip Credibility: 4 |

| Show them how to change a tire and jumpstart a battery properly. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Include them in the maintenance and servicing of your car so they can see what's required and what's entailed with car ownership. Have them pump the gas and listen to the recommendations of the oil change or tune up guys. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Be sure they pay for at least 1/2 the purchase price. They will take better care of something they had to spend their own earnings on. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Start taking them to the used auto shows/lots at least a year or two before they will be ready to get a car of their own. Prepare them for the reality of what choices they will have. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Its cheaper to get to Las Vegas-cheap rooms, cheap food/buffets,free drinks if you're disciplined you can get cheap gambling, free outdoors entertainment...I take my son there all the time and there's lots for him to do cheaply as well. Tip Credibility: 6 |

| Use hard dishes/glasses/cups and silverware at home instead of disposable goods. Better to wash and reuse than to dispose of paper/plastic goods. Tip Credibility: 6 |
| Recycle and Reuse. You can reuse the plastic shopping bags you get over and over if you bring your own to the stores. You can recycle/reuse the hangers you get from the dry cleaners. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Teach your kids to shop for value. When my son wants a new bat or other phone or other pricey item, I have taught him to price check at different stores and online shops (include tax and shipping) to find the best price for the item. Tip Credibility: 4 |

| Learn to use a conservative stock strategy - writing covered calls - on your buy and hold strategy stocks. Tip Credibility: 4 |
| Be patient - many of these people deal with sarcastic, snarky, angry people daily and have grown to be cold and less sympathetic. Stick to your guns but be diplomatic, these people really aren't the problem, their your path to the solution. Tip Credibility: 4 |
