How to train your dog

Tip Sheet Credibility: 8

submitted by barbgabo 2009-07-17 04:23:41 pm

Dogs learn through repeated actions. Repeat your command, guide him to perform it, and reward him when he does it correctly. You might need to perform this repeatedly. But it works.

We have 2 dogs that used to have serious meltdowns whenever we left them at home. Our solution was to give them each a piece of chewy chicken jerky right as we walked out the door. Dogs LOVE it, and they forget all about you as they happily chew away :)

How To Take Care Of Your Dog

Tip Sheet Credibility: 7

submitted by Glassman 2009-07-17 10:02:52 am

If you feed your dog wet food, mash the food down. Dogs are impatient, they gulp their food down too fast. By mashing it down, they can only get a little at a time so they will have to work a little to eat. This will help out with their digestive system.

You should feed a small cat about 1 and a half cups a day of cat food. 2 or 3 meals. A big cat should get more. like 2 or even 3 small cups of cat food. Make sure to pay attention if your cat is eating too much or if she's still hungry.

The humane societies or other shelters have purebred pets and loving animals who were given up because of no fault of their own who have been trained and loved by previouw pet owners. They deserve another chance to have a loving home and family life.

Yes. Young dogs need a high concentration of protein, middle-aged dogs can thrive on the protein that exists in the average good-quality dog food, and older dogs need lesser amounts of higher-quality protein.

Your first line of defense for panic attacks is not tranquilizers, it's flower essences. Try Emergency Trauma Solution for animals, Phobias, or Rescue Remedy. Fast, safe, and affordable solutions work best, without side effects.

Why Do Dogs Eat Grass?

Tip Sheet Credibility: 6

submitted by macca 2009-07-17 05:25:01 pm

About the best explanation I have heard from a vet is the fact that dogs are looking for a certain amount of fiber for their diet. Green grass provides this needed fiber, while the grass blade is not digestible for dogs. That's why they throw it up.

One very important thing to have on hand is those great wipe its, just put some in a ziplock bag. Do the same thing with a few paper towels and then you can deal with most messes that can occur.

Preventing lost cats

I just read in the New York Times about a microchip system that keeps even better track of your cat than original ones. You should also keep an eye on your cat so it doesn't get out if it's an indoor cat.

I think pet ins. is a good ideas as well, however, do your research and find out what is covered and what your needs are for your pet. Not all policies or carriers are the same, and did you know that some base their pricing on what your area vets charge

Is a Beagle the right dog for me?

Tip Sheet Credibility: 5

submitted by www.hollywood-blogger.com 2009-07-17 02:28:07 am

Beagles are very energetic dogs that like to run and need to be well-trained right away. They are very smart and will figure out how to get under fences and chew through ropes. Get a Beagle if you have a lot of patience and can spend a lot of time with it

Cat Behavior Training

Tip Sheet Credibility: 5

submitted by toptipster 2009-07-18 11:05:40 am

Training your cat to behave the way you want involves attract/repel methods that encourage your cat's good behavior, and discourage the bad. Punishment is not effective on cats, and may make things worse.

Delegate the Walk?

Tip Sheet Credibility: 5

submitted by marygallagher 2009-07-18 12:38:38 pm

My son is 14, he is able to walk the dog, and wants to be paid for it. I benefit from walking the dog. The dog should benefit too. Rusty will get 2 walks every day! The walk that is delegated and the walk that breaks up my day! It's a win-win.

How to Find the Best Dog Food

Tip Sheet Credibility: 5

submitted by doghealth 2009-07-18 09:27:45 pm

Well, MOST of the information on "healthy" dog food is in fact WRONG. Most vets have no idea on dog nutrition(believe it or not) because they just don't receive appropriate training at vet school.
