What I Like
The tips I liked enough to vote for.
Beware of the Gallileo Argument, which appeals to your sympathy. "I am persecuted and suffer for my claims and therefore must be right". The fact that folks like Gallileo and Copernicus suffered for their claims does not lend credence to the claims. Tip Credibility: 25
6) Stress will affect your health and your memory. It can makes us difficult to focus and remember things. It cannot be eliminated but it can be controlled. Control your stress to improve mind power. Tip Credibility: 57
Sometimes, taking a day off which is unplanned does you real good mentally and physically. But remember: skipping training does not mean slacking on your diet. Maintain your diet, get some rest & recovery. Sleep and nutrition are crucial here. Tip Credibility: 7
To let your thoughts flow, don't judge them, comment on them, or analyze them unnecessarily. This will simply create more "stoppage". Try visualizing your thoughts as cars going by in an intersection. The light eventually turns green and you can cross. Tip Credibility: 6
The concept of positive mental cues is not the same as "positive thinking". If plagued by worry thoughts or performance doubts trying to block them or think positive is as much a mental trap as the thoughts themselves. Instead, let your thoughts flow. Tip Credibility: 6
One great way to lose weight is to plant a vegetable garden. Not only is there work involved, but home grown vegetables are higher in the vitamins and minerals that your body craves. This can curb appetite and supports health weight loss. Tip Credibility: 42
Thoracic kyphosis (increased thoracic flexion) is commonly associated with a postural distortion known as the kyphotic-lordotic posture in which kyphosis is accompanied by lumbar lordosis/anterior pelvic tilt, and forward head posture. Tip Credibility: 6
Anti-rotational static core exercises are the most superior core strengthening exercises one can perform. They are the biggest bang for your buck and you must throw them into your training. Tip Credibility: 6
4)Make decision wisely.Get all the relevant information 1st & don't make major decisions blindly. Consider the good & bad points of each choice. Involve people who will be affected by the decision or can advice in the process to avoid being stress-out Tip Credibility: 44
Using too much muscle rub before a workout, or using it over too wide an area can cause annoying and uncomfortable sweating (excessive) and a feeling of being overheated. Use sparingly and let the act of massaging in the rub aid you rather than too much. Tip Credibility: 14
Muscle rubs such as tiger balm products and certain horse linaments can be use to help trouble joints like shoulders, knees, and wrists warm up before a hard strength workout. But do NOT wrap an area that you have used a rub on! Tip Credibility: 7
Don't beat yourself up if you happen to skip a few sessions from to time. Your body could do with the rest and recovery and so could your mind. Being at it 100% of the time is next to impossible. So step back from the heavy weights every once in a while. Tip Credibility: 14
If it just so happens you miss a few workouts, you shouldn't immediately jump back into your old frequency. Because you've "slacked" off a few sessions, ease back into it. If you miss 3 of 4 sessions for 1-2 weeks, get back with doing 2,3,4 per week. Tip Credibility: 6
Static stretching pre-workout can temporarily sap your strength and affect your coordination. Dynamic stretching does not have this effect. Tip Credibility: 6
Static stretching is not warming up. Never perform prolonged static or passive stretching pre-workout. Tip Credibility: 7
Static core exercises which resist motion and use loads are the best exercises to build your core strength. Never shirk these exercises because they are the biggest bang for your buck. Tip Credibility: 6
One of the worst things which I encounter from time to time is a complete absence in motivation to work hard. One way which I have found to be helpful to kick start my desire to better myself is by focusing on my diet and laying the foundation right. Tip Credibility: 6
There are quite a few methods to progress on an exercise. In very brief terms, they are: add weight, add reps, add sets, improve quality and by reducing rest periods. You may choose just 1 of the above or more than 1. Either way: Progress Is Progress. Tip Credibility: 6
For your pulling exercises like deadlifts, the basic type of grip strength you need to train is supporting. Dead hangs, static holds, farmers walks, and thick bar training are good examples. Tip Credibility: 6
Sometimes, when I am experiencing a lack of motivation in the gym and I am going through a low, one of the best ways to snap out of it is to focus on my diet. It takes my mind off things and doesn't allow my state of mind to make me eat rubbish. Tip Credibility: 6
I make it a point to get my required protein in no matter what. That is my foremost priority when it comes to diet. 1.5 times my weight (in lbs) = xxx grams for protein per per. In my case: 1.5 x 190 = 285 grams of protein per day. Get your protein in! Tip Credibility: 6
One way that excessive forearm training can harm or limit actual grip strength is by altering the length tension relationship between the muscle groups responsible for producing a strong grip. Tip Credibility: 6
Although the large muscles of the forearm are key in supporting and crushing grip, forearm training is not necessarily grip training. Actual grip strength exercises should come first in priority over wrist curls, etc. Tip Credibility: 6
You must consolidate your strength before increasing the resistance. For Ex: Get good at Deadlifting 385-405 in such that you can do 4-5 reps with 405 before trying to nail 425, etc. Have a strong foundation and a foundation with 405 is strong as hell. Tip Credibility: 6
The ACSM recently claimed that exercise protects us from colds. Cited was Nieman's claim that multiple studies show a decrease in sick leave. The studies are elusive to search and regardless, less sick leave is not synonomous with fewer colds. Tip Credibility: 6
