The latest tips I've posted to TipDrop.
I recommend advertising for business, rather than just competing for ready made requests. A good place to do that is in the 'Warriors For Hire' section of the Warrior Forum. Tip Credibility: 20
Turkey cooks faster when it is not stuffed. Rather than getting up extra early to cook a turkey with stuffing inside, cook the stuffing in an independent dish. Tip Credibility: 15
Many traditional items can be made well in advance and frozen, for instance mince pies. This removes the stress of preparing them in the day. Tip Credibility: 4
Remember that the vast majority of audiences *want* you to succeed. Everyone's been there, even if it's speaking out at a work meeting or giving a presentation at school. Concentrate on good content (minimal pitch) and the crowd will be behind you. Tip Credibility: 17
In hotels, eat in the bar section rather than the restaurant section. The food is normally cooked in the same kitchen and prices in the bar are usually much cheaper. Tip Credibility: 29
Get straight to the content. There's a few methods you can use: talking head, voice over powerpoint, or screen capture demonstrations. All easy to produce and easy to follow. Tip Credibility: 35
To concentrate on the content, find a friend or business partner to host the webinar, concentrate on fielding questions and to make sure that the recording is collected. Once you know that everything will run smoothly you can focus on quality delivery. Tip Credibility: 16
The best way, in my opinion, is the offline media. Read the letters pages in newspapers, or listen to talk radio. You'll find out little known topics that are of interest to people and well worth writing about. Tip Credibility: 15
Don't use the word 'gay' in an insulting fashion 'that was so gay'. Imagine if it was a racial term instead and how offensive that could be to people and susbscribe to the same mindset that stopped racial terms being used. Tip Credibility: 15
In the UK, there are always a shortage of teachers who are well qualified. Particularly in IT, Maths, the Sciences and Languages. Tip Credibility: 13
Remember what we all learnt in school? Do something for other people. Collect some items from the store for an elderly neighbour when you go. Stop and talk to someone lonely. Put some money in a collection tin. Volunteer at a local charity. Tip Credibility: 22
Provide a business card or flyer for each guest personalised with the event you're attending. A unique domain works best for large events. Put the images up on the site for view or purchase asap (a selection will do if the whole archive is unreasonable). Tip Credibility: 24
Submitting photos contain identifiable humans (children are a particular worry). Unidentifiable background humans are fine, any others will need a waiver. This can be more trouble than it's worth. Tip Credibility: 22
A Slingbox (or similar) can be used to legally stream TV from your home location either around the house or remotely, giving you TV picture and a virtual remote control on the PC. Tip Credibility: 22
Put your dog first. Flying is a traumatic experience for many humans, let alone animals who may not be fully aware in this environment. Even worse, after the traumatic experience they will end up in a new location. Leaving them behind may be less painful. Tip Credibility: 22
Many partially sighted viewers report that a very dark (or black) background with white text is the most legible combination. This can also look visually appealing on appropriate sites. Tip Credibility: 12
A very important factor is to get the incident on record asap and supported by witnesses. Many areas have very short deadlines for claims, and the faster you claim, the fresher the incident will be in your mind. Tip Credibility: 16
It's very hard to be stuck in a traffic jam when you're travelling by train. How many roads can you say that about?! Tip Credibility: 14
For solo travellers, this tends to much more economical than driving, plus it is also much more environmentally friendly. Tip Credibility: 14
Never 'sell' a link in your blog. Always 'rent' it. If you are working on the blog then your Google PR will improve and you can put costs up. Further, if you 'sell' you have a commitment to run the blog forevermore, even if this is not profitable. Tip Credibility: 31
If you've not consider crowd surfing, you'd be suprised how keen people are to have you stay with him, and how much they'll try to make you enjoy your visit to their location. Just imagine the advantage of having a lower when arriving in a new area. Tip Credibility: 23
Sometimes, it is not worth it to trade in a car to get a new one. Dealers will always pay substantially less than you could get in an open trade. Plus, consider the option of passing the car on to a family member who could save on their insurance. Tip Credibility: 11
For another fun game as an icebreaker, on arrival pin the name of a famous person on everyone's back. By asking only questions which can be answered Yes or No, each guest has to mingle and to try and work out which famous person they are. Tip Credibility: 11
When travelling outside term time, many universities rent out student accommodation at bargain rates. This is often in central London and perfectly placed to see the sites. Tip Credibility: 12
Look through existing Tip Sheets and try and add to them. If you are not sure about any, spend a few hours in a library. It's amazing how much information they contain and how referring to these can improve your TipDrop credibility. Tip Credibility: 11
