Sometimes, taking a day off which is unplanned does you real good mentally and physically. But remember: skipping training does not mean slacking on your diet. Maintain your diet, get some rest & recovery. Sleep and nutrition are crucial here. Tip Credibility: 7

And old man deadlifting some heavy weight right there! Tip Credibility: 4 |
Sometimes the best workouts take place when you're not obsessing over them during your down time. Take home point: when you're not in the gym don't think about your training. Focus on your diet if you must. Tip Credibility: 6
Anti-rotational static core exercises are the most superior core strengthening exercises one can perform. They are the biggest bang for your buck and you must throw them into your training. Tip Credibility: 6
Don't beat yourself up if you happen to skip a few sessions from to time. Your body could do with the rest and recovery and so could your mind. Being at it 100% of the time is next to impossible. So step back from the heavy weights every once in a while. Tip Credibility: 14
If it just so happens you miss a few workouts, you shouldn't immediately jump back into your old frequency. Because you've "slacked" off a few sessions, ease back into it. If you miss 3 of 4 sessions for 1-2 weeks, get back with doing 2,3,4 per week. Tip Credibility: 6

Static core exercises which resist motion and use loads are the best exercises to build your core strength. Never shirk these exercises because they are the biggest bang for your buck. Tip Credibility: 6
One of the worst things which I encounter from time to time is a complete absence in motivation to work hard. One way which I have found to be helpful to kick start my desire to better myself is by focusing on my diet and laying the foundation right. Tip Credibility: 6
There are quite a few methods to progress on an exercise. In very brief terms, they are: add weight, add reps, add sets, improve quality and by reducing rest periods. You may choose just 1 of the above or more than 1. Either way: Progress Is Progress. Tip Credibility: 6
Sometimes, when I am experiencing a lack of motivation in the gym and I am going through a low, one of the best ways to snap out of it is to focus on my diet. It takes my mind off things and doesn't allow my state of mind to make me eat rubbish. Tip Credibility: 6
I make it a point to get my required protein in no matter what. That is my foremost priority when it comes to diet. 1.5 times my weight (in lbs) = xxx grams for protein per per. In my case: 1.5 x 190 = 285 grams of protein per day. Get your protein in! Tip Credibility: 6
You must consolidate your strength before increasing the resistance. For Ex: Get good at Deadlifting 385-405 in such that you can do 4-5 reps with 405 before trying to nail 425, etc. Have a strong foundation and a foundation with 405 is strong as hell. Tip Credibility: 6
